Boracay

Boracay is an island off the coast of Panay and a tropical dream island. If you love sandy beaches and stunning sunsets, you will find paradise on Boracay. The main attraction, besides the beaches, is water sports. Boracay is about an hour's flight from Manila. The island of Boracay is one of the most popular travel destinations in the Philippines. Hardly any other island has changed as much in terms of its tourist infrastructure as this little corner of the world. In the 80s it was still an insider tip among backpackers and a paradise for backpackers. Today you hardly find any Nippa huts anymore and the majority are mid- to upper-class hotels (Henann Regency Resort and Spa, Shangri-La Boracay, Boracay, Hilton... all have their luxury hotels here too). Boracay has around 30 beaches, the longest of which, White Beach, is 4 km long and consists of absolutely white sand. White Beach on Boracay is arguably the most famous beach in the Philippines.

Bulabog Beach on the east coast is a popular water sports center due to its strong winds. The best time to kitesurf on Boracay is from November to April. A nearby vantage point on Mount Luho offers panoramic views of the island. Another absolutely stunning beach is Puka Beach in the north of the island.

It is recommended to arrive by plane, but if you have plenty of time, you can also take a boat from Manila. Those arriving by land will have to go to Caticlan, which is the ferry port to Boracay. Those with plenty of time and the desire can also take a ferry from Manila; the ferries run overnight and arrive in Boracay early in the morning. From Mindoro, ferries depart from Bulalacao or Roxas/Mindoro to Caticlan (Boracay ferry port).
