Puerto Galera Hash House Harriers - PGH3

The Hash House Harriers (also abbreviated HHH, H3) are an international association of non-competitive running, social, and drinking clubs. A single event organized by such a club is called a hash or hash run. Cycling rallies are called bashes. Participants in such events refer to themselves as hashers or harriets.

The Hash House Harriers are decentralized, with each group being led individually. There is no unifying, hierarchical structure between the individual groups.

There is now a global network of over 1,700 groups spread across all seven continents. Most major cities around the world have at least one of these groups. These usually consist of 20–100 members, with both male and female participants. Some events in major cities attract over 1,000 hashers.

Hashing originated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in December 1938 as a group of British colonial officers and expatriates who met for Monday evening runs. The Hash House Harriers' charter, as stated on the club's 1950 registration card, was:

  • To promote physical fitness among our members
  • To get rid of weekend hangovers
  • To acquire a good thirst and to satisfy it in beer
  • To persuade the older members that they are not as old as they feel

Puerto Galera Hash House Harriers - Runs every Saturday leaving from Capt'n Greggs Dive Resort on Sabang Beach

Established in 1990, Puerto Galera Hash House Harriers is the local chapter of the beer-fueled global network of local running/walking drinking clubs.

Every Saturday, we find a trail somewhere covering jungle, hillsides, rice padis, broken concrete, sewage outlets, sand, mud, garbage dumps and generally anywhere we can get away with setting a trail.

Anyone who wants to go for a social run or walk can come along. There are no joining or annual fees, just pay as you attend.

Visitors are welcome but please note that first-time runners must be interoduced and accompanied at all times by an experienced hasher.
